Back Home Again in Indiana

We got back home yesterday afternoon.  On the island, not only did we experience spectacular sunsets every evening, but our last night was a Blue Moon (the second full moon of the month).  This was one of our best vacations yet.  However, now it's time to get back to reality (unpacking, dirty laundry and work), but we have lots of memories to treasure.

Catch of the Day

While at Benguerra Island we decided to try fishing. The day before we had gone snorkeling and was hoping to spot some whales, but no such luck. However, while fishing we saw at least a couple dozen whales. In between the fish catching we scanned the horizon for the tell-tell sign of their water spouts. Tom caught two nice-sized yellow fin tuna and I caught a kingfish. When we got back to shore (after taking our picture with our catch) we went to lunch and had sashimi (Tom's yellow fin fish). We have never had sushi so fresh. Later that night at dinner the "catch of the day" was my kingfish.

Dinner on the Beach

Benguerra Island, Mozambique

We spent five days, four nights on Benguerra Island, Mozambique in our own private villa complete with a private cabanna on the beach, beautiful porch overlooking the beach and an infinity pool of our own. This was the perfect way to shake off all the safari dust

Back to Civilization...Briefly

Today is another travel day. We leave Zimbabwe and fly back to Johannesburg (or Jo'burg as the locals would say). After spending the night in Jo'burg, we then fly to Mozambique and stay four nights along the beach of the Indian Ocean. The island we will be staying at is very remote...so remote the only way to access it is via helicopter. So once we helicopter in, that will probably be the end of the blog until we get back. Also, we don't expect to have cell phone coverage (so, Zach, no good morning texts for a while). We should resurface again on Saturday when we take an international flight back, home sometime Sunday afternoon.
